Meet Mr. Calvin, your expert Korean language teacher.

Mr. Calvin is the founder of KoreanLearnin (est. 2022), where he has guided over 1000 students to confidently speak and understand Korean. His teaching style is practical, structured, and engaging; his lessons are built from years of real experience working with diverse learners. He invented the Yodafication technique, a simple way to understand Korean sentence structure using English words.

Before creating KoreanLearnin, Mr. Calvin spent 7 years as a dance instructor, mastering the art of breaking down complex breakdancing routines into simple, learnable steps. This is a skill he now applies to language teaching. He also worked for 8 years as a credit counselor, where he built strong communication skills and the ability to connect with people from all walks of life.

With his unique background in both education and personal coaching, Mr. Calvin brings his all to every class. Whether you're an absolute beginner or looking to refine your advanced skills, you'll learn Korean in a way that feels approachable, encouraging, and results-driven... no fluff.

In the coaching sessions, Mr. Julius and Mr. Calvin will ease you into the program, get you a study buddy, and practice drills. After 4 weeks, you will be set free to take the other optional Support Classes.

The coaching sessions will be a blend of self-study and class time. You will review the videos on your own and we'll practice what you found difficult in class. This way when life happens, you're not pressured to catch up on missed material in class.

Mr. Julius will teach class every Sunday at the time you selected during registration, and Mr. Calvin will teach class every Wednesday at 8:00 PM New York time.

In the Monday Sentence Building classes, Mrs. Eva will teach you how to build your own sentences from scratch. You'll cover sentence structure and learn some new vocab words in each class. Mrs. Eva will also give you all her tips and tricks!

This class requires no prior preparation and a new topic is covered every week, so don't worry if you can't make it every week. A recorded class is available in the student portal.

In the Tuesday Reading classes, Mr. Calvin will help you practice reading Korean out loud and improve your pronunciation (including tricky parts like consonant assimilation)!

Each class begins with Mr. Calvin displaying an example sentence. You'll then upload a recording of yourself reading it out loud. Mr. Calvin will go over common mistakes and guide everyone through pronunciation practice, taking turns as a group.

This class requires no prior preparation and a new topic is covered every week, so don't worry if you can't make it every week.

During the Wednesday Extra Help classes, Mr. Calvin will answer any questions you might have, whether they're about a video lesson or something you didn't fully understand in class. Everyone will have a turn to speak. Even if you don't have any questions, you're still welcome to join! Many students find it helpful to listen to others' questions and hear Mr. Calvin explain the material.
